This Chicken Ring recipe is a delicious and visually appealing dish made with refrigerated crescent rolls filled with a creamy mixture of chicken, cheese, and fresh vegetables. It’s perfect as a crowd-pleasing appetizer or a hearty snack, combining tender chicken with crunchy broccoli, sweet red pepper, and water chestnuts, all wrapped in a golden, flaky crescent crust.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 tubes (8 ounces each) refrigerated crescent rolls

Filling

  • 1 cup shredded Colby-Monterey Jack cheese
  • 2/3 cup condensed cream of chicken soup, undiluted
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh broccoli
  • 1/2 cup chopped sweet red pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped water chestnuts
  • 1 can (5 ounces) white chicken, drained, or 3/4 cup cubed cooked chicken
  • 2 tablespoons chopped onion

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crescent Roll Base: Lay out the crescent rolls on a 12-inch pizza pan, arranging them in a wreath or ring shape. Make sure the wide ends of each crescent roll overlap, and the pointed ends face outward.
  2. Make the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine shredded Colby-Monterey Jack cheese, condensed cream of chicken soup, chopped broccoli, chopped sweet red pepper, chopped water chestnuts, white chicken (drained or cubed cooked chicken), and chopped onion. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  3. Assemble the Chicken Ring: Spoon the chicken and vegetable mixture over the wide ends of the crescent rolls. Fold the pointed ends over the filling and tuck them underneath the wide ends on the inside of the ring to form a neat wreath. The filling should remain visible between the crescent rolls for an appealing look. For better portioning, use a cookie scoop to evenly distribute the filling.
  4. Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the assembled chicken ring for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the crescent rolls turn golden brown and the filling is heated through.

Notes

  • Use a cookie scoop for even portioning of the filling onto the crescent rolls.
  • The filling mixture can be customized by adding other vegetables or substituting the cheese.
  • Ensure the crescent rolls overlap to prevent the filling from leaking during baking.
  • Serve warm as an appetizer or light meal alongside a fresh salad.
