Delicious homemade brown sugar boba milk tea featuring caramelized brown sugar tapioca pearls combined with black tea and creamy whole milk for a rich and comforting bubble tea experience.

Ingredients

Brown Sugar Boba Pearls

  • 1/4 cup cooked tapioca pearls already mixed with brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • Water as needed

Tea Base

  • 1 black tea bag (or 2 for stronger flavor)
  • 200 ml hot boiling water

Assembly

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Cook the Boba Pearls: Bring 8 times the amount of water to a boil in a pot. Add the tapioca pearls and cook according to the package instructions, which can vary from 5 to 20 minutes. Once cooked, cover the pot, turn off the heat, and let rest for the recommended time to fully soften.
  2. Rinse and Mix with Brown Sugar: Rinse the cooked tapioca pearls under running water. In a pot, add about 3/4 cup of brown sugar and then add the drained pearls. No additional water is needed. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, for 3-4 minutes until large bubbles appear and a thick brown sugar syrup forms, coating the pearls thoroughly.
  3. Brew the Tea Base: Place 1 black tea bag into 200 ml of hot boiling water and steep for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bag and allow the tea to cool slightly.
  4. Assemble the Drink: In a serving cup, add 2 to 3 tablespoons of the cooked tapioca pearls with brown sugar syrup. Fill the cup with ice cubes. Pour in the prepared black tea first, then top with 1 cup of whole milk. Stir well to combine all the flavors before serving.

Notes

  • Nutrition facts are calculated based on one serving of approximately 500 ml, including 3 tablespoons of tapioca pearls.
  • Adjust the quantity of tea bags to control the strength of the tea flavor.
  • Use whole milk for a creamier texture, but alternatives can be used based on dietary preference.
  • For best results, stir the brown sugar pearls gently to avoid breaking the tapioca pearls.
