Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1½ cups plain flour (180g)
  • ¼ cup white sugar (50g)
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1½ teaspoons cinnamon powder

Wet Ingredients:

  • ⅓ cup full-fat milk (80ml)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted (unsalted)

Additional Ingredients:

  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and chopped (yields about 2¾ cups or 335g)
  • 1 cup icing sugar (120g)
  • 3 tablespoons full-fat milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted (unsalted)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Dry and Wet Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon to create the dry mixture. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, vanilla essence, and lemon juice to form the wet mixture.

  2. Step 2: Combine the Mixtures and Add Apples

Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients, pour in the wet ingredients, add the melted butter, and stir until well combined. Gently fold in the chopped apples.

  3. Step 3: Prepare the Air Fryer

If needed, preheat the air fryer to 375°F. Line the basket with parchment paper and spray with nonstick spray.

  4. Step 4: Cook the Fritters

Scoop portions of batter onto the parchment paper in the air fryer and cook at 375°F for 8 minutes, then flip and cook for an additional 3 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.

  5. Step 5: Prepare the Glaze

Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla essence until smooth. Add melted butter and whisk to complete the glaze.

  6. Step 6: Glaze and Serve the Fritters

Dip the fritters in the glaze, place on a wire rack to set, and serve while fresh.

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can sprinkle some extra cinnamon on top of the glazed fritters.
  • These fritters are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
