Baked Pears with Honey Butter is a simple yet elegant dessert that combines the natural sweetness of ripe Bosc pears with the rich flavors of honey, butter, and vanilla. Finished with a crunchy chopped walnut topping, this dessert is perfectly caramelized and ideal for a comforting treat or a special occasion.

Ingredients

Fruits

  • 2 just-ripe Bosc pears

Honey Butter Mixture

  • 2 tablespoons salted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping

  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pears: Preheat the oven to 375℉. Cut the pears in half lengthwise, keeping the stem attached to one half. Remove the small brown knob at the bottom of each pear half using a knife. Then, use a teaspoon to hollow out the core, being careful not to go too deep.
  2. Mix Honey Butter: In a bowl, mix together the melted salted butter, honey, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Coat Pears: Spoon half of the honey butter mixture over each pear half, covering both the hollowed core area and the outside surfaces.
  4. Bake Pears: Place the pear halves on a baking sheet and roast them in the preheated oven for 30 minutes until caramelized and tender.
  5. Finish and Serve: Microwave the remaining honey butter mixture for about 10 seconds to warm it slightly, then spoon it over the baked pears. Sprinkle the chopped walnuts generously on top. Serve the pears as is, or add a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent treat.

Notes

  • Choose just-ripe Bosc pears for optimal sweetness and texture.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute butter with a plant-based alternative.
  • To enhance flavor, you can add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the honey butter mixture.
  • The pears can be served warm or at room temperature depending on preference.
  • Adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream complements the warm pears wonderfully but is optional.
