American Goulash is a classic one-pot dinner loaded with tender pasta, ground beef, tomatoes, and cheese. This family favorite is easy to make and perfect for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

Ground Beef Mixture:

  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 1/2 cups diced onion
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Italian Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

Remaining Ingredients:

  • 1 15 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1 15 ounce can diced tomatoes
  • 2 1/2 cups beef stock
  • 1 1/2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Chopped Parsley, optional

Instructions

  1. Brown the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until no longer pink. Drain and set aside.
  2. Sauté Onion and Garlic: In the same skillet, sauté the onion until softened. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Add Seasonings: Stir in tomato paste, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Cook briefly.
  4. Combine Ingredients: Return beef to the skillet. Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and beef stock. Bring to a boil.
  5. Cook the Macaroni: Add macaroni, cover, and simmer until pasta is tender.
  6. Finish and Serve: Stir in cheddar cheese. Serve garnished with parsley.

Notes

  • Leftover Goulash can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
