This Air Fryer Salmon Recipe with Maple Soy Glaze offers a quick and flavorful way to cook wild salmon fillets with a delicious, slightly spicy maple soy marinade. Perfectly cooked in the air fryer for a crispy exterior and tender interior, served with a rich glaze made from the marinade reduced on the stovetop.

Ingredients

Marinade Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 3 tbsp reduced sodium soy sauce (or gluten-free soy sauce)
  • 1 tbsp sriracha hot sauce (use less if you don’t like heat)
  • 1 clove garlic (smashed)

Main Ingredient

  • 4 wild salmon fillets (skinless, 6 oz each)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Marinade: In a small bowl, combine maple syrup, reduced sodium soy sauce, sriracha hot sauce, and smashed garlic clove. Mix well to create the marinade.
  2. Marinate Salmon: Pour the marinade into a gallon-sized resealable bag and add the salmon fillets. Seal the bag and gently toss to coat the salmon evenly. Marinate for 15 to 20 minutes, turning once in a while. If short on time, 5 minutes will suffice.
  3. Prep Air Fryer Basket: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil spray or line it with air fryer parchment to prevent the salmon from sticking during cooking.
  4. Remove Salmon from Marinade: Take the salmon out of the marinade, reserving the marinade for the glaze. Pat the salmon fillets dry carefully with paper towels to ensure they cook properly.
  5. Air Fry Salmon: Place the salmon fillets in the air fryer basket in a single layer, working in batches if necessary. Air fry at 400°F (204°C) for 7 to 8 minutes, adjusting time longer if fillets are thicker, until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily.
  6. Make Glaze: While the salmon is cooking, pour the reserved marinade into a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat and reduce for 1 to 2 minutes until it thickens into a glaze. Take care not to let it dry out.
  7. Serve: Spoon the warm maple soy glaze over the cooked salmon right before serving for a burst of flavor.
  8. Alternate Skillet Method: If you don’t have an air fryer, the salmon can be cooked in a skillet over medium heat using the same marinade and glaze technique.

Notes

  • Ensure salmon fillets are patted dry before air frying to get a better sear and prevent steaming.
  • Adjust sriracha amount to control the heat level of the glaze.
  • Use gluten-free soy sauce if you need a gluten-free option.
  • Do not overcook salmon in the air fryer; thinner fillets may need less time.
  • You can marinate the salmon up to 30 minutes for more flavor but avoid longer as the soy sauce can start to cure the fish.
