These delightful Air Fryer Biscuit Donuts are a quick and easy treat that combines the convenience of refrigerated biscuits with the fun of air frying. Shaped into charming hearts, then coated in luscious strawberry and chocolate frosting with sprinkles, they make a perfect sweet snack or dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

Donuts

  • 1 can refrigerated biscuits (8 count, Annie’s organic biscuits recommended or your favorite brand)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Frosting

  • 1 can strawberry frosting (or homemade)
  • 1 can chocolate frosting (or homemade)
  • 24 tablespoons whole milk (to thin the icing)
  • Sprinkles (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Prepare biscuit donuts: Remove the biscuits from the can and place them on a flat surface. Use a large heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out a heart shape from each biscuit. You may need to gently roll or stretch the dough slightly to make them larger while keeping them thick enough.
  2. Cut out donut holes: With a smaller heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out the center holes from each biscuit heart to create donut shapes. Save the center pieces to air fry donut holes separately if desired.
  3. Brush with butter: Brush the donut shapes lightly with melted butter on all sides to enhance browning and flavor.
  4. Preheat air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 340°F (170°C). Spray the air fryer basket lightly with oil or line it with air fryer-safe parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  5. Air fry the donuts: Place the heart-shaped donuts in the basket spaced about 2 inches apart. Avoid overcrowding; cook in batches if necessary. Air fry for 6 minutes total, flipping them halfway through to ensure even browning. They are done when golden brown and puffed.
  6. Cool the donuts: Remove the donuts from the air fryer and allow them to cool on a wire rack or baking sheet before frosting. Cooling is essential to prevent the frosting from melting off.
  7. Prepare frosting: Place the strawberry and chocolate frostings in separate microwave-safe bowls. Microwave each frosting in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and silky.
  8. Thin the frosting: Add whole milk, one tablespoon at a time, stirring until the frosting is thick but pourable. Adjust thickness according to preference.
  9. Frost the donuts: Line a baking sheet or countertop with parchment paper. Dip the tops of the cooled donuts into the frosting and set them aside on the paper. Transfer some frosting into piping bags or a Ziplock bag, cut a small hole in one corner, and pipe decorative lines over the donuts. Immediately add sprinkles so they adhere well.

Notes

  • Adjust air fryer temperature and time as needed since air fryers vary; start with 340°F for 6 minutes.
  • Keep donuts spaced to allow for puffing and even cooking.
  • Use whole milk to thin frosting for best texture; other milk types may alter the consistency.
  • Donut holes can be cooked alongside or separately in the air fryer.
  • Letting donuts cool completely before frosting prevents melting and messy icing.
  • Use parchment paper safe for air fryer use to avoid sticking and ease cleanup.
