Deliciously crispy and caramelized air fryer apples seasoned with cinnamon and a touch of maple syrup, perfect for a quick and healthy snack or dessert.

Ingredients

Apples

  • 2 large apples

Seasoning

  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp pure maple syrup (or sweetener of choice)

Optional

  • 2 tsp oil (or butter, or omit for fat free)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Gather all ingredients. If desired, peel the apples. Chop the apples into small squares, sticks, or thinly sliced apple chips. Discard the cores and seeds.
  2. Toss Apples with Seasoning: In a bowl, toss the chopped apples with cinnamon, maple syrup, and the optional melted butter or oil to evenly coat the fruit.
  3. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (204°C). Grease the air fryer tray or line it with air fryer liners to prevent sticking.
  4. Arrange Apples: Place the coated apples in a single layer on the greased tray. Avoid overcrowding; if necessary, cook in two batches for even crisping.
  5. Air Fry the Apples: Cook the apples for 7 minutes. Then open the air fryer, shake or turn the apples to ensure even cooking.
  6. Finish Cooking: Air fry for an additional 8 minutes until the apples are crispy and caramelized to your preference.
  7. Serve: Remove the apples from the air fryer and serve warm for a tasty snack or dessert.

Notes

  • You can peel the apples if you prefer a softer texture, but leaving the skin adds extra fiber.
  • Use your favorite sweetener as a substitute for maple syrup, such as honey or agave syrup.
  • Cooking in batches helps to avoid overcrowding and ensures even crispiness.
  • Adjust air fryer timing depending on your preferred level of caramelization and crispiness.
  • For a fat-free version, omit the oil or butter.
