This 25-Minute Cheese Bread is a quick and easy comfort food, combining soft, fluffy bread with a gooey, melty cheese filling. Perfect for a savory snack or side dish.

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour (or bread flour for extra chewiness)

1 tbsp sugar (helps activate yeast)

1 tsp instant yeast (or 1.5 tsp active dry yeast)

1 tsp salt

1 cup warm milk (or water)

2 tbsp oil (or melted butter)

1.5 cups shredded cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or a mix)

2 tbsp grated Parmesan (optional, for extra flavor)

1 tsp garlic powder (or fresh minced garlic)

1 tsp dried oregano or parsley

2 tbsp butter (for brushing)

Optional Add-Ins: Chopped jalapeños, Cooked beef bits, Sautéed onions

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a bowl. Add the warm milk and oil, then knead the dough for 3–4 minutes until smooth and elastic. If using active dry yeast, let the dough rest for 10 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the shredded cheese, Parmesan, garlic powder, and oregano. Add any optional ingredients like chopped jalapeños, cooked beef, or sautéed onions if desired.
  3. Roll the dough into a 10×12-inch rectangle on a floured surface. Spread the cheese mixture over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges. Carefully roll the dough up and seal the edges.
  4. Heat a non-stick pan over low-medium heat. Place the rolled-up dough seam-side down in the pan, cover, and cook for 5–6 minutes until the bottom is golden. Flip and cook for another 5–6 minutes. Brush with melted butter for a crispy finish.
  5. Let the bread cool for 2 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with your favorite dip or enjoy as is.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add chopped jalapeños to the filling.
  • For a meat version, include cooked beef or crumbled sausage in the filling.
  • Experiment with fresh herbs like basil, thyme, or rosemary for an aromatic flavor.
  • For a vegan version, use dairy-free cheese and butter substitutes.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
  • If freezing, wrap the rolled dough tightly in plastic wrap and store for up to 3 months. Thaw before cooking.
  • For baking, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 15-20 minutes, brushing with butter for a golden finish.
