This XXL Buttery Soft Sugar Cookie recipe creates one giant, soft, and buttery sugar cookie studded with vibrant sprinkles. Perfect for those craving a single, indulgent cookie that’s easy to make and delightfully soft in texture with a slightly chewy center and crisp edges.

Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 3 Tablespoons (38g) granulated sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons (30ml) beaten egg (about 1/3 of a large egg beaten)
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 6 Tablespoons (49g) all-purpose flour (spooned & leveled)
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Add-ins

  • 2 Tablespoons (about 20g) sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare baking sheet: Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). Prepare a baking sheet by spraying it with nonstick spray or lining it with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper to ensure easy cookie removal and minimal sticking.
  2. Cream butter and sugar: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, stir together the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar until the mixture is creamy and well combined, creating a fluffy base for the cookie dough.
  3. Add egg and vanilla: Mix in the beaten egg and pure vanilla extract into the creamed butter and sugar mixture, stirring to evenly incorporate all wet ingredients.
  4. Combine dry ingredients with wet: Add the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sprinkles to the bowl. Gently stir until just combined; avoid overmixing to keep the cookie tender and soft.
  5. Shape the cookie dough: Place the cookie dough in the center of the prepared baking sheet and shape it into a tall ball, forming a single large cookie.
  6. Bake the cookie: Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes until the edges turn golden brown. The center will look slightly underdone but will firm up as it cools.
  7. Cool and serve: Allow the cookie to cool completely on the baking sheet before serving. This helps it set properly and achieve the perfect texture.
