This Overnight Creme Brulee French Toast Casserole is a delightful make-ahead brunch dish with a tender center and a crunchy caramel-infused top, perfect for a leisurely morning meal.

Ingredients

Caramel Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup salted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp white corn syrup

French Toast:

  • Day-old bread, cut into 1-inch cubes (about a 9-inch loaf of French bread or similar)
  • 1 1/2 cups half and half
  • 5 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Garnish (optional):

  • Sanding sugar
  • Sliced almonds

Instructions

  1. Caramel Sauce: Combine brown sugar, butter, and corn syrup in a saucepan, cook until smooth.
  2. Prepare the Dish: Pour caramel sauce into a greased 13′ x 9′ baking dish. Arrange bread cubes on top.
  3. Make Custard: Whisk half and half with eggs and vanilla until frothy. Pour over bread cubes.
  4. Chill: Cover with foil and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight.
  5. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F, bake covered for 30-35 minutes until golden. Garnish with sugar and almonds.
