This Honey-Garlic Chicken Tenderloins recipe is a quick, healthy dish featuring tender chicken coated in a sticky-sweet sauce made from tamari, honey, and garlic. Perfect for a weeknight meal, it pairs wonderfully with brown rice and broccoli or works as a flavorful topping for salads and grain bowls.

Ingredients

Chicken Coating

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast tenderloins (about 4 tenderloins)

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium tamari or lower-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 large clove garlic, grated
  • 1 teaspoon chile-garlic sauce
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar

For Cooking and Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil, such as canola or avocado
  • Thinly sliced scallions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Coating: In a medium bowl, stir together cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken tenderloins to the bowl and toss until they are evenly coated with the seasoned cornstarch mixture.
  2. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the tamari (or soy sauce), honey, grated garlic, chile-garlic sauce, and rice vinegar. Stir well and set aside.
  3. Cook the Chicken: Heat the neutral oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the coated chicken tenderloins to the skillet and cook, flipping once, until golden brown and crispy on both sides and the internal temperature reaches 165°F, about 10 to 12 minutes total.
  4. Add and Thicken the Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the cooked chicken in the skillet, turning the tenderloins to coat them evenly. Continue cooking over medium-low heat for about 30 seconds, until the sauce thickens slightly and clings to the chicken.
  5. Serve: Remove the chicken from the skillet and drizzle with any remaining sauce in the pan. Garnish with thinly sliced scallions if desired, and serve warm with your choice of sides.
