Ingredients

Base Layers

  • 16 ounces refried beans
  • 15 ounces guacamole (store bought or homemade)

Seasoned Layer

  • 2 cups sour cream, divided
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 2/3 cup thick and chunky salsa

Toppings

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • 12 roma tomatoes
  • 1 green onion
  • 45 large black olives

Instructions

  1. Layer Refried Beans: In a pie dish, spread the refried beans evenly across the bottom, smoothing out to form the first layer.
  2. Add Guacamole: Spoon the guacamole over the refried beans and smooth it out to create the second layer.
  3. Prepare Seasoned Sour Cream: Take 1 cup of sour cream and mix in the taco seasoning packet thoroughly. Spread this mixture evenly over the guacamole layer.
  4. Layer Salsa: Spread the thick and chunky salsa over the seasoned sour cream layer.
  5. Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded Mexican blend cheese evenly over the salsa layer.
  6. Prepare Fresh Veggies: Dice the roma tomatoes and slice the green onion thinly in preparation for garnish.
  7. Garnish Outer Edge: Arrange the diced tomato and sliced green onion around the outer edge of the dish for color and freshness.
  8. Prepare Sour Cream for Decoration: Place the remaining 1 cup of sour cream into a piping bag and snip off a small tip for precise decorating.
  9. Create Spider Web Design: Pipe concentric circles of sour cream on top of the dip and use a toothpick or skewer to drag lines from the center outward, forming a spider web pattern.
  10. Make Olive Spiders: Cut black olives in half for spider bodies, and slice some halves into thin strips to form legs. Place olives on the spider web design to look like spiders.
  11. Chill Before Serving: Refrigerate the dip until serving time to let the layers set and flavors meld appropriately.

Notes

  • For best flavor, prepare the dip a few hours ahead to allow layers to meld.
  • Customize the spice level by adjusting the amount of taco seasoning.
  • Use homemade guacamole for a fresher taste, or your preferred store-bought brand.
  • Serve with tortilla chips, pita chips, or fresh vegetable sticks.
  • Keep refrigerated until shortly before serving to maintain freshness and texture.
