This Easy Air Fryer Apples recipe offers a quick and delicious way to enjoy warm, cinnamon-spiced apples with a hint of maple syrup and avocado oil. Perfect as a healthy snack or a simple dessert, these golden-brown apples come out tender and flavorful, thanks to the efficient air frying method.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 large apple, diced (approximately 2 cups or 285 g, Honeycrisp recommended but any apple variety works)
  • ½ tsp cinnamon (1.5 g)
  • ½ Tbsp maple syrup or honey (8 ml)
  • ½ Tbsp avocado oil or extra virgin olive oil (8 ml)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apple: Using a sharp kitchen knife, cut the large apple into approximately 1-inch pieces. You can leave the skin on to add extra fiber or peel it if preferred.
  2. Toss Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the diced apple with the cinnamon, maple syrup, and avocado oil. Toss well until all pieces are fully coated with the mixture.
  3. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 2 to 3 minutes to ensure even cooking.
  4. Air Fry the Apples: Place the coated apple pieces in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Air fry them for 12 to 14 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time to ensure even browning. Keep an eye on the apples as cooking times may vary depending on the air fryer model. The apples are done when they develop a golden brown color and become tender.
  5. Serve or Store: Remove the apples from the air fryer and serve immediately for the best texture and flavor. Alternatively, store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 days.

Notes

  • Any apple variety can be used, but Honeycrisp provides a nice balance of sweetness and firmness.
  • Adjust the amount of cinnamon and maple syrup to taste for more or less sweetness and spice.
  • Shaking the basket halfway through cooking promotes even browning and prevents sticking.
  • These apples can be served warm on their own or as a topping for oatmeal, yogurt, or ice cream.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheat gently before serving.
