These Cocoa Balls are a quick and easy no-bake treat made with just five main ingredients. Using natural almond or peanut butter, cocoa powder, maple syrup, vanilla, and a touch of coconut flour, they come together in minutes and can be customized with optional mini chocolate chips for extra indulgence. Perfect as a healthy snack or a sweet bite, these energy bites are paleo-friendly, naturally sweetened, and require no cooking at all.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted natural almond butter (or natural peanut butter for non-paleo, only nuts as ingredients)
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3 to 5 teaspoons coconut flour
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional, use paleo/vegan chocolate if needed)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, blend together the almond (or peanut) butter, cocoa powder, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth and well combined.
  2. Add Coconut Flour: Stir in 3 teaspoons of coconut flour to the mixture.
  3. Mix to Firm Up: Stir the mixture for about a minute until it firms up enough to roll into balls. If it’s too soft, let it sit for about 5 minutes to allow the coconut flour to absorb moisture, then add more coconut flour if needed.
  4. Incorporate Chocolate Chips: Fold in the optional mini chocolate chips using your hands for easier mixing, if desired.
  5. Form Balls: Roll the mixture into sixteen approximately 23-gram (about 1 inch) balls.
  6. Store Properly: Store the cocoa balls in an airtight container for up to 1 week at room temperature, refrigerate for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

  • Use natural almond or peanut butter with no added sugar or oils for best results.
  • Adjust coconut flour quantity to achieve desired firmness; too much can dry out the mixture.
  • Optional mini chocolate chips add extra texture and sweetness but can be omitted for a simpler version.
  • These cocoa balls are a no-bake, no-cook recipe requiring only mixing and rolling.
  • Keep refrigerated or frozen to maintain freshness and texture.
