A refreshing and vibrant berry fruit salad featuring fresh strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries, complemented by a sweet homemade strawberry syrup that enhances the natural flavors of the berries. Perfect for a light dessert or a healthy snack.

Ingredients

Syrup Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Strawberry stems from 1 lb fresh strawberries

Fruit Salad Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh strawberries (stems removed and cut into bite-size pieces)
  • 2 cups fresh raspberries
  • 2/3 cup fresh blueberries

Instructions

  1. Prepare Strawberry Syrup: Cut off the stems from the strawberries, leaving some flesh attached to them for flavor.
  2. Combine Syrup Ingredients: In a saucepan over medium-high heat, mix the strawberry stems with granulated sugar and water.
  3. Cook Syrup: Stir until the sugar dissolves completely and bring the mixture to a boil. Then, reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, until the syrup begins to thicken.
  4. Strain Syrup: Pour the syrup through a strainer into a bottle or bowl to remove the stems and solids. Allow it to cool completely before use.
  5. Prepare Fruit: Cut the hulled strawberries into bite-sized pieces, leaving the raspberries and blueberries whole.
  6. Assemble Salad: Gently combine the prepared strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries in a serving dish. Store the fruit salad in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
  7. Serve with Syrup: Just before serving, drizzle the cooled strawberry syrup over the mixed berries and toss gently to coat evenly.

Notes

  • Use ripe, fresh berries for the best flavor.
  • The strawberry stems add great flavor to the syrup but should be strained out before serving.
  • The salad is best consumed within 24 hours for freshness.
  • You can adjust the syrup sweetness by adding more or less sugar as desired.
  • Keep the syrup refrigerated if not used immediately and consume within a week.
