Ingredients

Cake:

  • 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cups (396g) granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (227g) sour cream
  • ½ cup (118ml) milk
  • 2 ½3 cups (about 285-315g) diced apples cut into ¼-inch chunks

Glaze, optional:

  • 1 cup (113g) powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 24 Tbsp heavy cream or milk

Instructions

  1. Crumb Topping: Combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Mix in melted butter until crumbly. Set aside.
  2. Cake: Peel, core, and dice apples. Preheat oven. Prepare pan. Mix dry cake ingredients. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Alternate adding dry ingredients, sour cream, milk, and apples. Layer batter and crumb topping in pan. Bake until done. Cool, glaze, and serve.
  3. Glaze: Mix powdered sugar, vanilla, and cream until smooth. Drizzle over cake.
